People Bill Clinton Help While In Office Page
At the opening ceremony, they had six people that were selected to speak about how President Clinton made a difference in their lives because of the programs and other things he did in office. In the program that they passed out, they were called The Bridge to the 21st Century. The speakers picked were: Steven Bishop, Deborah Bredbenner, Gloria Hackman, Nancy Santana, Kadi Tierney and Kenny Weaver. Under each picture, I am going to tell you what President Clinton did to help them.
The first speaker was Steven Bishop:
Steven is the former Kansas City police chief and because of President Clinton helping get extra police officers on the streets, Kansas City crime rate went down.
The second speaker was Deborah Bredbenner:
Deborah was chosen to speak because thanks to President Clinton's health insurance program for children, she was able to get affordable health insurance for both of her children.
The third speaker was Gloria Hackman:
Gloria was chosen to speak because of a program she administered, she spoke with President Clinton and something that the President Clinton announced will improve the air quality.
The fourth speaker Nancy Santana:
Nancy was chosen to speak because of the Welfare-to-work program, Nancy has her own business.
The fifth speaker was Kadi Tierney:
Kadi was chosen to speak because of the program called AmeriCorps that supports citizen service.
The Final speaker was Kenny Weaver:
Kenny was chosen to speak because of the Family And Medical Leave Act he was able to spend time with his daughter before died of cancer. With the help of the Make A Wish Foundation his daughter met President Clinton. I believe they made a t.v movie about her meeting the President.
